Alex Manzano, MD
Dr. Alex Manzano is a board certified endocrinologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he has practiced since 2014. Dr. Manzano’s clinical expertise includes the full spectrum of diabetes mellitus, caring for individuals with Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA), and monogenic and atypical diabetes syndromes. His approach emphasizes advanced technology integration, precision diagnostics, and long term metabolic preservation.
He also specializes in complex thyroid disorders, including thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and minimally invasive thyroid procedures such as fine needle aspiration biopsies and thyroid laser ablation. Additional areas of expertise include adrenal and pituitary tumors.
Over the past several years, he has developed a comprehensive Diabetes Remote Monitoring Program that leverages insulin pump technology and continuous glucose sensors to provide real time oversight and individualized adjustments. This model has demonstrated meaningful improvements in glucose control, earlier detection of destabilizing trends, and a reduction in diabetes related complications by ensuring patients receive continuous, proactive care from any location.
His newest area of work expands this philosophy into Comprehensive Metabolic Health Medicine and Advanced Hormone Optimization Therapies (AHOT), offering patients a modern, data driven approach to metabolic performance and hormonal balance. Dr. Manzano completed his medical training in Ecuador, followed by an internal medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital/Saint Raphael Campus and a chief residency at the University of Miami, where he received the American College of Physicians Chief Resident Award. He later completed his endocrinology fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, conducting research in adrenal disorders and Cushing’s disease.
He leads the endocrinology rotation for internal medicine residents at Mount Sinai and remains active in academic publishing, particularly in thyroid and parathyroid disease. Dr. Manzano is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the Endocrine Society, and the American Diabetes Association.
